Three of family die, four injured after car rearends truck on Bengaluru-Mysuru highway

RAMANAGAR: Three members of a family died on the spot after their car rammed into a truck from behind on the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway near Kempegowdanadoddi in Ramanagara taluk in the early hours on Saturday.

In the ghastly accident, the Maruti Omni car collided with the truck from behind as the driver tried to overtake the truck, which was going from Bengaluru to Mysuru and rearended it. As a result, three people, including two women, who were in the car died.

The deceased have been identified as Rajesh (50), his wife Suma (45) while another woman, Lakshmamma, died later. Four others suffered injuries and were admitted to different hospitals.

The family was staying in Peenya in the city and had gone to Srirangapatna to perform Pitrupaksha puja on the occasion of Mahalaya Amavasya. At this time, the Omni hit the truck while trying to overtaking it. 

The car was completely damaged, and Rajesh and Suma died on the spot. Suresh, Lakshmamma, Srujan, Mohan and Rohan who were in the car, were seriously injured, and Lakshmamma died enroute to a hospital in Ramanagara. The Ramanagara traffic police visited the spot and registered a case.
