BENGALURU: A three-month-old baby boy died on the spot after being run over by a truck near Kuvempu Circle in Jalahalli, while the parents narrowly escaped death.
The couple, Sara and Mc Adam from Ejipura, were returning to home with their three-month-old baby boy near Kuvempu Circle when a truck hit their bike from behind. The parents were thrown to the left, while the baby fell to the right and was run over by the truck, resulting in the child’s death.
The Jalahalli traffic police registered a case and began searching for the truck. Based on the parents’ description of the truck being green in colour, the police tracked it down scanning over 100 CCTV cameras from Bengaluru to Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh. The truck was finally located in Kurnool, and the driver Ismail was arrested.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Siri Gowri said the couple were returning home from the IKEA showroom with their child at night. “The truck knocked their bike and the lost their child. Police traced the truck at Sadahalli toll based on its colour. The truck driver was arrested and the vehicle seized in Kurnool”, the DCP said.
