Three electrocuted, 3 injured while erecting actor Yash’s cutout in Gadag village

GADAG: Three people were electrocuted to death and three others sustained serious injuries when they were trying to install a huge cutout of actor Yash to mark his birthday, at Sooranagi village in Lakshmeshwar taluk in the wee hours on Monday.

The deceased are Hanamath Harijan (24), Murali Naduvinamani (30) and Naveen Gaji (20). The injured Manjunath, Prakash and Hanumantha were rushed to a private hospital in Lakshmeshwar and later shifted to GIMS.

A group of people were erecting a 25-foot-tall cutout of actor Yash around 1 am on Monday when the cutout came in contact with overhead power lines, electrocuting some of them. A case has been registered at the Lakshmeshwar police station.

Lakshmeshwar MLA Dr Chandru Lamani met the families of the deceased at the government hospital and expressed his condolences. He also assured of compensation for the families of the deceased and the injured.

Superintendent of Police B S Nemagoud said discussions will be held with Hescom officials and action will be taken if the electricity pole has been erected unscientifically. Gadag Deputy Commissioner Vaishali M L also visited the spot.
