Thousands celebrate Cauvery Theerthodbhava at Talacauvery

Cauvery Theerthodbhava occurred at 7.40 am on Thursday at Talacauvery.

MADIKERI: The Theerthodbhava of river Cauvery occurred at 7.40 am in the Brahma Kundike during the Tula lagna at Talacauvery on Thursday. Thousands of devotees had lined up from 5 am itself to catch a glimpse of the Theerthodbhava after trekking by foot from Bhagamandala 8 kms away.

The rituals were conducted by chief priest Gururaj Achar. The devotees were dressed in traditional Kodava attire and some of them had come from other districts and Tamil Nadu too. As the appointed time approached, there was excitement among the devotees and as the Theerthodbhava occurred, the priests sprinkled the holy water on the devotees.

Kodagu district in-charge minister Boseraju, Madikeri MLA Manthar Gowda, Virajpet MLA A S Ponnanna were also among those present. Minister Boseraju said, “Cauvery not only provides water and nourishes crops in Kodagu and Karnataka, but also in Tamil Nadu. May Goddess Cauvery bless Karnataka with abundance”.
