HUBBALLI: Residents of Nekar Colony here caught a thief who was stealing women’s inner wear hung out to dry, along with cash, during the nights, thrashed him and handed him over to the police.
Over the last few days, thefts had been occurring at several houses and some of the residents of the colony installed CCTV cameras in their houses. In the wee hours on Friday, the thief attempted to steal from a house, but the occupants noticed his movements and alerted other residents.
Soon, some locals came together, caught the thief and thrashed him. He was later handed over to the Old Hubballi police station where a case has been registered and further investigation is under way.
