BENGALURU: The Byadarahalli police have arrested three notorious thieves who stole valuables from houses and used the money to pay school fees of 20 children. The police seized 260 grams of gold bars worth Rs 24 lakh in cash from them.
The arrested thieves are Shivu, Anil and Vivek. The mastermind behind the thefts is Shivu alias Shivappan, a resident of Begur. Shivu, who has no family and was contemplating suicide, was inspired to steal after seeing his friends struggling to pay their children’s school fees.
Shivu, along with his friends Anil a.k.a Jagga and Vivek, carried out thefts in several areas, including Byadarahalli, and sold the stolen gold jewellery in Tamil Nadu for Rs 22 lakh. Shivu gave Rs 4 lakh to Vivek and an autorickshaw worth Rs 4 lakh to Anil, and used the remaining Rs 14 lakh to pay school and college fees for 20 children in the area.
