Terrorist involved in Bengaluru blast shifted from Nagpur to Hindalga jail

Terrorist Akbar Pasha was brought to Hindalga jail in Belagavi from Nagpur.

BELAGAVI: A most wanted terrorist, who was involved in the Bengaluru blast case, was shifted from the Nagpur jail to the Hindalga jail here on Monday night. He was brought to Belagavi by a flight from Nagpur.

Akbar Pasha, the terrorist, was reportedly in touch with criminal Jayesh Poojary, who is lodged in Hindalga jail. Last year, Jayesh had made a threat call to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and warned that if he was not given Rs 100 crore, there would bomb blasts in different parts of the country.

During investigation, the Nagpur police found out that Akbar Pasha was in touch with Jayesh Poojary. After questioning both, Akbar Pasha was shifted to Hindalga jail.

Akbar Pasha is lodged in the Andheri (dark) cell wherein only individuals are housed. Criminals like Bannanje Raja, Jayesh Poojary and Akbar Pasha are among the notorious criminals lodged in the dark cells.

The Hindalga jail has 33 dark cells of which about 19 house criminals. The jail was built during the British rule and those facing death sentence would be lodged in the dark cells.
