BENGALURU: A techie who used to sexually assault and blackmail women on the pretext of getting them jobs has been arrested by the Southeast CEN police. The accused has been identified as Dilip Prasad (36).

Dilip had created two Instagram accounts in the name of Monica and Manager through which he would snare women. He would then invite them to some place where he would sexually assault them and make videos. Using these videos, he would blackmail the women into parting with money.

Dilip would use photos of women as the display picture on the Instagram accounts and would even message other women posing as a woman. He would even target married women looking for employment, drop names of major companies and promise them jobs in those companies with handsome salaries. He would then invite the women to a room where he sexually assaulted them.

During the preliminary investigation, police have found that he cheated several women and some videos of some of the women were also found on his phone.

Police Commissioner Pratap Reddy said, “He contacted them through Instagram posing as a woman and took photos and videos in a compromising position. He would book rooms in different hotels. One of the women lodged a complaint alleging rape based on which we arrested him. Dilip has a predatory approach and we have found out that he was in touch with 10-12 women. He had physical contact with three women and had photos and videos of other women which he used to blackmail them”.

The police commissioner also appealed to people not to trust any accounts “which are not verified or which are not verifiable”. “Do not share private photos as criminals may be operating the accounts”, he noted.
