Tamed elephant kills daily wager in Kodagu

MADIKERI: A 24-year-old daily-wage worker was killed in an elephant attack near Dubare elephant camp in Kodagu on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Basappa (24).

Basappa was attacked by a tamed elephant at Dubare elephant camp.

Nanjunda, a tamed elephant which was grazing, attacked Basappa and another man in the morning. It also attacked the mahout, who went to their rescue, but he survived.

Forest officials visited the spot.

Deputy Range Forest Officer Ranjan admitted Basappa to a hospital in Siddapur in a critical condition. He was unresponsive to treatment and died.
