BENGALURU: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday said the Naada Habba Dasara will be celebrated in Mysuru in a grand manner and a meaningful way.

Briefing media persons along with Deputy CM D K Shivakumar after chairing a high-level meeting, Siddaramaiah said steps will be taken to attract more visitors to Mysuru with attractive lighting, processions and the famed Jamboo Savari.

“The tableaux will highlight the five guarantees of the Congress government along with the specialities of each district”, he said. There will also be the torch light parade, cultural programmes, film festival, Raitha Dasara and Yuva Dasara, he noted.

The Dasara celebrations will kick off atop Chamundi Hills on October 15, between 10.15 am and 10.30 am and on the same day, the Dasara Exhibition will also be inaugurated. The illumination of the city will continue for a week after the close of the celebrations, the CM said. The celebrations will also be organised in Srirangapatna and Chamarajanagar and importance will be given to local folk artists, Siddaramaiah said.

“We have not decided whom to invite to inaugurate the Dasara celebration, but the name of the Suttur mutt seer was discussed after it was proposed by BJP legislator Srivathsa. We will discuss the issue and come to a decision later”, he said.

With the Shakti scheme having been implemented, more women will participate in the Dasara celebration, the CM said and noted that additional buses will be deployed. “We have not decided on the cost, but a committee headed by minister H C Mahadevappa will present a proposal. After this, the government will decide on the funds to be released. An air show will also be organised and we will discuss with the Defence Minister”, he added.
