BENGALURU: Sustainable Fashion Week (SFW) India hosted a Circular Fashion Pop-up sale on July 21 at Smoor Chocolates on 100 ft Indiranagar.
Well-known circular fashion brands were handpicked from across India, like Preloved by Virja from Ahmedabad and Beg Borrow Steal Studio from Mumbai. Tandem by Tanvi, a designer and upcyclist; and The Preloved Co. which raises funds for charities were also featured. Tengin and Svasta Organic Farms were present and promoted the cause.
Avid followers of sustainable fashion stopped by to support circular fashion. A young enthusiast and scientist, Madhura, said, “I found the collection to be unique and well curated. I shopped especially since it was for a great cause”.
Co-founder Laghna Gowda said, “The collection was intentionally inclusive. From vintage, high-end luxury to affordable everyday wear, this catered to everyone who came”.
“The main idea was to shop without the guilt of adding to the carbon footprint”, added another co-founder, Priyanka Abhishek.
Laghna Gowda and Priyanka Abhishek, co-founders of Sustainable Fashion Week (SFW) India, aim to build and host community-based activities to normalise slow and sustainable fashion. ‘Circular fashion’ are clothes and accessories that are reused, remade and circulated to prevent them from ending up as landfill.
By prioritising sustainable and recycled materials, circular fashion reduces the demand for resource-intensive materials such as conventionally produced cotton or synthetic fibres derived from petroleum. This shift helps protect habitats and ecosystems often disrupted or destroyed by resource extraction, a statement said.
Sustainable Fashion Week (SFW) is a world-wide organisation that empowers, inspires and up-skills a community and enables them to make better fashion choices. SFW India has more workshops and events lined up in the near future and encourages others to support conscious, sustainable fashion. Contact: 9986072069/ 96638 64336 for more details.
