BENGALUR: The Supreme Court has directed the state government to submit a report on whether basic facilities are being provided to actor Darshan, who is lodged in jail in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case.

Hearing Darshan’s bail plea, a Bench headed by Justice J B Pardiwala directed the state government and the trial court to file a report within a week. The court instructed the state government to file report on whether basic facilities are being provided in jail, and the trial court to report on the progress of witness examination.

Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi argued that Darshan has not been given basic facilities in jail and that he has been kept in a cell with no light. After hearing the arguments, the court directed that a report be submitted within a week stating how many witnesses have been examined so far and how much time is needed to complete the remaining witness examination.
