BENGALURU: The menace of stray dog menace has increased both inside and outside the Vidhana Soudha. The police are facing problems as the stray dogs hinder the movement of escort vehicles of ministers and officials.

Vidhana Soudha is the centre of governance. The legislature staff have been regularly feeding some dogs and along with those dogs, more stray dogs have also entered the Vidhana Soudha. Officials are worried that the dogs may attack visitors or others on the premises.

Dr K P Ravikumar, BBMP Joint Director, Department of Animal Husbandry, said, “All the ministers, MLAs and officials are coming to Vidhana Saudha since the legislature is in session. There have been several occasions when dogs came in between the vehicles of MLAs and officials”.

“Dogs even roam in lounge and there is a fear that they will attack us. The staff of the Animal Husbandry Department of the BBMP tried to catch them, but failed. It has been reported that a stray dog attacked an individual in the lounge a few days ago. Visitors and school and college students who come to see the proceedings in the Vidhana Soudha are afraid of dogs”, he complained. He stressed that some strict measures need to be taken in order to control stray dogs.
