State Women’s Commission issues notice to actor Darshan

BENGALURU: The State Women’s Commission has issued a notice to actor Darshan Thoogudeepa seeking an explanation regarding his alleged controversial remarks about women.

A complaint was filed against the actor alleging that he made derogatory remarks about women in public at the ‘Belli Parva-D 25’, held in Mandya, organised to celebrate his 25 years of journey in Sandalwood.

In the notice to Darshan, the commission has instructed him to give an explanation within 10 days of receiving the notice. Jayashree of the Gowdathiyara Sene had filed a written complaint against Darshan with the Women’s Commission alleging that he had used derogatory words about women.

In the complaint, the women members of the organisation said actor Darshan had made a derogatory statement at the event and had expressed their objections to his remarks. The complaint said the remarks humiliated women.
