BENGALURU: Mudigere BJP MLA M P Kumaraswamy has been sentenced to four years in prison by a special court in connection with eight cheque bounce cases.

Judge J Preet of the Special Court for Elected Representatives six months in jail in each of the eight cheque bounce cases, totalling four years.

Kumaraswamy had borrowed Rs 1.35 crore from one Hoovappagowda and later eight cheques for varying amounts towards repayment of the loan. But all the cheques bounced as there was insufficient balance in his bank account.
