BENGALURU: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has taken over the investigation into the stampede incident near Chinnaswamy Stadium and has begun its probe today. The investigation is being led by CID SP Shubhanwita, with Deputy SPs Gowtham and Purushottam appointed as investigating officers.
The Cubbon Park police, who had registered the FIR, have already transferred the case file to the CID. Today, the CID team is expected to visit the site of the stampede at Chinnaswamy stadium and conduct an inspection.
The team will examine the areas where the stampede took place, particularly near gates 7, 19, 18, 16, and 21, where the crowd surged. After inspecting the scene, the CID team is preparing to take four accused persons into custody.
Since today is a government holiday on account of Eid-Al-Adha and tomorrow being Sunday, the CID team plans to take the accused into custody on Monday after securing a body warrant. The investigation is being conducted under the supervision of CID SP Shubhanvita, who heads the special investigation division.
