BAGALKOT: An officer of the Social Welfare Department has landed in a spot after campaigning for his brother in an official WhatsApp group after the Congress, on Friday, announced the first list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
In its first list, the Congress has named Anandaswamy Gaddadevaramath as it candidate from the Haveri parliamentary seat. No sooner was the announcement made, his brother Chandrashekar Gaddadevaramath, who is the Jamakhandi taluk social welfare officer, started campaigning for him by sharing the Congress list in an official WhatsApp group.
Officials who are part of the WhatsApp group expressed their disapproval of Chandrashekar’s action for campaigning for this brother though he is still in service. It remains to be seen whether any disciplinary action will be initiated against the official.
