BENGALURU: City police commissioner B Dayananda has ordered the suspension of six police personnel of the Ramamurthy Nagar police station following various complaints against them. The staff of the police station had recently sent an unsigned letter to the police commissioner listing out numerous allegations against the now suspended personnel.
The suspended officials are police inspector Muthuraj, sub-inspector Umesh, assistant sub-inspectors Mahesh and Fairoz, head constable Manjunath and constable Basavaraj. They have been accused of letting off a murder suspect, taking money and letting off an individual accused of assaulting police personnel, not registering cases against a ganja peddler after taking bribes, among others.
Following the unsigned letter, the police commissioner had directed additional police commissioner (east) Satish Kumar to conduct an inquiry. After it was found that there was prima facie truth in the allegations, the six police personnel were placed under suspension.
