KARWAR: Six members of a family, including four children, drowned in the Kali river at Aquada village in Dandeli taluk on Sunday
The deceased have been identified as Nazir Ahmed (40), Alchiya Ahmed (10), Mohin Ahmed (6), Resha Unnisa (38), Ifra Ahmed (15) and Abid Ahmed (12). They were residents of Iswara Nagar in Hubballi. Two others who were on the river bank are safe.
The deceased belonged to a same family. Eight of them had travelled to Dandeli in a vehicle. They drowned while swimming.
Dandeli police fished out six bodies from the river and sent them to Dandeli hospital for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered at the Dandeli Rural police station in this connection.
