HASSAN: Six people were killed in a ghastly road accident when a car collided with a truck near Eechanahalli on the outskirts of Hassan on Sunday morning.
The car spun out of control, hit the median and flipped in the air then crashed into a container truck on the other carriageway. The deceased have been identified as Narayanappa, Sunanda, Ravikumar, Netra, Chetan and Rakesh. The deceased were from Andarahalli near Karahalli in Hoskote taluk and included two women, three men, and a child.
They had gone to visit an ailing relative who is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Mangaluru. The accident occurred when they were returning to their village after the car driver reportedly dozed off at the wheel.
The police had a tough time extricating the bodies from the mangled remains the car. Police Superintendetn Mohammad Sujeeta visited the accident site. The car belongs to the Chikkaballapur RTO and is in the name of Manoj Kumar. The accident occurred under the jurisdiction of Hassan traffic police station.
