BENGALURU: Six people sustained injuries after a leaking LPG cylinder exploded at a house at Nagappa Reddy Laout in Kaggadasapura, Byappanahalli, on Thursday morning. The impact of the blast was such that three walls were completely damaged.

All the injured — Manjunath (34), Pavithra (32), Annesh (33), Mamatha (32), Ishan (3) and Hanumanthappa (70) — were shifted to Victoria Hospital. The LPG cylinder was connected to a gas geyser and the blast occurred around 6 am when one of the family members tried to switch it on.

Shockingly, Fire and Emergency Services personnel found 10 commercial LPG cylinders and three cylinders of 5-kg capacity in the house and it is believed that either the house owner or a tenant was running a LPG distributorship. All household articles were also destroyed.

Joint Commissioner of Police (East) Ramesh Bhanot said that three walls of the house had broken and the injured were shifted to hospital. He also said the police inspected the spot and a case has been registered at the Byappanahalli police station.
