Six arrested for conversion attempt in Karwar village

The group tried to convert a family to Christianity.

KARWAR: The Sirsi Rural police have arrested six people who were targeting economically weaker families and attempting to convert them to Christianity.

The arrested are Parameshwar Naik, Sunita Naik, Dhananjay a.k.a Shivanna, Shalini Rani, Kumar Lamani and Tara Lamani. While the first four aare from Haveri district, the latter two are from Mundgod in Uttara Kannada district.

The group had visited the house of Adarsh Naik in Jagalamane village and attempted to convert the family to Christianity claiming that it will help the family overcome all their difficulties. They tried to convince the family stating that they too had converted.

However, Adarsh Naik called the Sirsi Rural police who arrived at the village and arrested the group of six. A case has been registered in this regard.
