BENGALURU: The Southeast Division police have apprehended six accused in connection with the alleged murder of a medical store owner, who was attacked near a traffic signal on Hosur Main Road in Madiwala police station limits, police said on Monday.
Around 9.45 pm on August 22, six to eight unidentified persons, who came on two-wheelers, allegedly murdered Syed Suhail, a resident of Mangammanapalya, the owner of a medical store, near the traffic signal opposite the medical shop on Hosur Main Road, with swords and fled from the spot.
A case was registered at Madiwala police station, and an investigation was taken up. The teams conducted an investigation and apprehended the five key accused involved in the murder case on August 23. Under the leadership of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Southeast Division, and the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Madiwala Sub-Division, three separate teams were formed to investigate the case.
Among the arrested is history-sheeter Adil of Bandepalya and police said the murder of Suhail was in revenge for the killing of Shabbir in January.
Suhail had allegedly funded the murder of Shabbir which was carried out by Suhail’s brothers and Adil was a close friend of Shabbir. Suhail had reportedly revealed to his friends that Adil had planned to attack him and said that he would attack Adil beforehand.
The murder was carried out to establish dominance in Mangammanapalya and the attackers had gone to Bidadi by road after killing Suhail, police said. From there, they had planned to head to Mumbai by truck, but were arrested before that, police said.
The Police Commissioner and the Joint Commissioner of Police, East, have appreciated the successful operation carried out by the police teams.
Earlier, on July 28, Bengaluru police arrested a man after a woman alleged that she was sexually harassed while waiting for a cab in the city’s Ramamurthy Nagar, police said.
According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (East Bengaluru), an FIR has been registered at the Ramamurthynagar Police Station, and the accused has been arrested. (With agency inputs)
