BENGALURU: With confusion prevailing in the aftermath of the Congress’ announcements of the Gruha Jyothi and Gruha Lakshmi schemes, Opposition leader Siddaramaiah is preparing to clear the air and present all facts before the people in about a week’s time.

The Congress, as part of its election promises, recently announced 200 units of free electricity for all and Rs 2,000 per month for women heads of families. However, what created confusion and invited criticism was Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president D K Shivakumar’s remark that people will have to apply to avail benefits of the schemes.

Congress legislature party leader Siddaramaiah has suggested that there should be no further talk about the schemes till the conclusion of the bus yatra on January 27. After this, he will come out with details how the government will fund the schemes if the party comes to power.

Siddaramaiah is expected to present details about the cost of the two schemes to the government, how to budget for it and also clear all doubts. Till then, the party leaders have been advised not to talk about the schemes and create further confusion.
