BENGALURU: The Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s Cabinet, which was scheduled to meet on Thursday to put its stamp of approval on the rollout of the Congress guarantees, has now been postponed to Friday. This effectively means that the Congress guarantees will not be rolled out from June 1, as speculated earlier.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah held a meeting with his ministers at the Vidhana Soudha on Wednesday and discussed if excess funds could be diverted from other departments for implementing the guarantees. For now, the CM has tasked the Revenue, Excise and Commercial Taxes departments to raise resources.

The CM discussed the rollout of the guarantees with the ministers.

The meeting also discussed the possibility of implementing at least two or three of the five guarantees to begin with and some of the ministers felt that rollout of at least two guarantees should be announced in the first week of June itself.  The CM also briefed his cabinet colleagues about the information provided by the Finance department and the blueprint to implement the guarantees.

Meanwhile, the Congress is also considering holding a massive rally to announce the rollout of the guarantees after a formal approval by the cabinet on Friday.
