BENGALURU: The south-east division police in Bengaluru is facing a shortage of sub-inspectors. Of the four PSIs in the station, three have been transferred to other stations and during the recent counselling session, none opted for the Adugodi police station.

This was revealed during the PSI transfer counselling session held four days ago followed by the transfer of 218 sub-inspectors to different police stations in the city. The counselling session has given rise to doubts whether the first choice of Bengaluru sub-inspectors are the more wealthier police stations like Cubbon Park, Ashok Nagar, Peenya, Koramangala, KR Puram in the northern division, and other popular stations.

There are three major reasons why sub-inspectors are hesitating to pick Adugodi police station — 75 per cent of the slums are in Adugodi police station limits, there are more cases of riots, attempted murders, rowdy activities in the jurisdiction. Adugodi police station is also a high-risk area.

Sources pointed out that due to the above factors, none of the sub-inspectors are willing to choose Adugodi police station.  At present, only one sub-inspector is handling everything until other sub-inspectors are appointed, they added.
