Shop owner sets worker afire in Mangaluru

MANGALURU: A shop owner has been arrested by the Pandeshwar police for allegedly killing his worker by setting him on fire on Sunday. The incident took place near Mulihitlu Junction in Mangaluru.

The victim has been identified as Gajnan Jagu, hailing North India, and the accused Tausif Hussain is the owner of a general store. After killing the worker, he sent the body of the employee to the District Wenlock Hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead.

The accused tried to misrepresent the incident, claiming that the worker had died of electrocution. He even lodged a complaint with the police that the worker had died due to electric shock. The police suspected the shop owner and questioned him. It was then that Hussain revealed that he had sett his employee on fire after dousing him in petrol.

A case has been registered at Pandeshwar police station regarding the incident.
