Manjunath was among five tourists killed in Pahalgam area of Anantnag district in the terrorist attack.

SHIVAMOGGA: A real estate businessman from Shivamogga was among five tourists killed by terrorists in Pahalgam area in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. The deceased was identified s Manjunath Rao (47), a resident of Vijayanagar in the city.

Manjunath had set out for a tour of Kashmir with his wife Pallavi and son Abhijeya on April 19 and were scheduled to return on April 24. He was killed in the spot in the terrorist attack. Security forces and police personnel rushed to the site immediately after the attack. Ambulances were also rushed to the location.

Locals rescued Pallavi and Abhijeya and moved them to a safer place. Pallavi is working as a manager at The Malnad Areca Marketing Co-operative Society Ltd branch in Birur and some people from Sagar had also accompanied them, according to relatives.

Other tourists who were rescued by the forces.

“Pallavi is holding up and they will bring back the body. There are other people from Karnataka too with them. We have heard that Union Home minister Amit Shah will be heading to Jammu and Kashmir to assess the situation”, said Mahesh, a staffer with The Malnad Areca Marketing Co-operative Society Ltd (MAMCOS).
