Shepherd Basava was killed by a tiger while he was herding sheep; (right) his food packet lay near where he was attacked.

CHAMARAJANAGAR: A 50-year-old Jenu Kuruba tribal man was attacked by a tiger near Hadina Kanive in the Bandipur forest range in Gundlupet taluk. His half-eaten body was found at the edge of the forest.

Basava, the victim, was herding sheep close to his haadi when he was attacked by the tiger and was dragged for about 500 metres. The incident occurred in Kundukere forest range. Forest Department officials rushed to the spot and retrieved the body parts.
