VIJAYAPURA: A 28-year-old shepherd, who jumped into a canal to rescue a goat which had fallen into the water, was swept away near Nagabanela village close to Nalwatawadi on Tuesday. The Fire and Emergency Services personnel launched a rescue operation on Wednesday.
Manjunath was tending his herd of goats when a kid (young one of a goat) fell into the Narayanapura left bank canal just outside Nagabanela village. Manjunath jumped into the water in an effort to save the kid, but was himself washed away in the strong current.
On getting information, the Fire and Emergency Services personnel launched a search on Wednesday.
