BENGALURU: Karnataka BJP president BY Vijayendra on Friday strongly condemned the murder of Hindu activist Suhas Shetty in Mangaluru, blaming the Congress-led state government for repeated attacks on Hindu activists.
Speaking to the mediapersons, Vijayendra said, “The BJP strongly condemns the brutal murder of Hindu activist Suhas Shetty. The local police and the Intelligence Department already knew that his life was under threat, so why didn’t they act? This shows a serious failure in the system”.
He accused the Congress government of ignoring the safety of Hindu activists. “This isn’t an isolated case. Ever since the Congress government under Chief Minister Siddaramaiah came to power, there have been a series of murders targeting Hindu activists. It looks like the government has a soft corner for anti-national and anti-social elements. They haven’t taken any serious action against groups like the PFI. Their silence has encouraged such attacks,” he said.
“The Chief Minister’s recent comments on Kashmir have only encouraged anti-national forces in Karnataka. His attitude is dangerous and sends the wrong message,” he added. Vijayendra also criticised Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s recent statements on the Pahagam terror attack.
He said, “His statement saying this is not a failure of the Home Department is unacceptable. People across Karnataka are angry. This isn’t the first time something like this has happened. These murders have been going on for months. The Home Minister has not taken these incidents seriously. I believe he is unfit to hold the position and should resign immediately, taking moral responsibility.”
Earlier, Home Minister G Parameshwara said that four separate teams have been formed to track down the suspects in the Suhas Shetty murder case.
