RAICHUR: Three thieves used a pungent chemical spray to gain entry into a house and made away with valuables and cash in Sindhanur. The spate of thefts have continued in the district unabated.
The thieves got to the terrace of the house of Shivnanda Rao in Venkateswara Colony, Sindhanur and dropped a pungent chemical inside through the bedroom door. Even as the occupants of the house were grappling with the effects of the chemical, the thieves tied their hands and legs. The gang made off with Rs 1,15,000 in cash and 60 grams of gold jewellery.
A case has been registered at Sindhanur Nagar Police Station. The police have set up a special police team to track the thieves. The number of theft cases in Raichur district has increased during the last three to four months.
