BALLARI: The police and election officials on Wednesday raided the house of a jeweller and seized Rs 23 lakh in cash stuffed in shelves, apart from gold and silver articles.
The Brucepet police and the flying surveillance team raided the house of Kamalesh Jain, owner of Chunnilal Rakesh Kumar Shah Jewellers and found Rs 23 lakh in cash, 450 gm of gold and 13 kg of silver for which Jain had no documents.
The cash, gold and silver articles were seized and handed over to the Income Tax Department for further investigation, said Ballari SP Ranjit Kumar Bandaru.
