Unaccounted cash of Rs 1.5 crore was seized from a bus passenger.

CHIKKODI, BENGALURU: Police officials have seized Rs 1.5 crore in cash which was being carried by a bus passenger without proper documents, at the Koganolli checkpost in Nippani taluk close to the Maharashtra border on Wednesday night.

The bus was coming from Mumbai and during checking, the cash was found with one of the passengers. A case has been registered at the Nippani Rural police station in this regard.

Meanwhile, election officials have seized a total of Rs 6.52 crore in unaccounted cash and Rs 1.14 crore of liquor in a single day in Bengaluru on Wednesday. Drugs worth Rs 20 lakh were also seized. The seizures include Rs 3,45,000 found in five vehicles.

Ever since the Model Code of Conduct came into effect, unaccounted cash of Rs 22.75 crore in cash, Rs 1.52 crore worth of liquor and Rs 3.14 crore worth of drugs have been seized.
