MYSURU: After the first offering of Rs 2,000 under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme was made to Goddess Chamundeshwari atop Chamundi Hills ahead of its rollout, an amount of Rs 1.18 lakh has now been paid to the temple authorities towards the remaining 59 installments of the scheme over five years.

Legislative Council member Dinesh Gooligowda had earlier written a letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar that the first offering every month under the scheme should be made to Goddess Chamundeshwari. Following this, the Deputy CM had directed Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar to make arrangements for the same.

Now, the MLC has deposited Rs 1,18,000 with the temple authorities for the next 59 months in the name of minister Laxmi Hebbalkar. The money was given from the minister’s personal account, sources said.
