BENGALURU: The producer of the movie ‘Richie’, Hemant Kumar, has been arrested by the Rajajinagar police in Bengaluru for allegedly sexually harassing an actress.
The actress claimed that Hemant approached her in 2022 and offered her a role in his film ‘Richie’, for which she was promised Rs 2 lakh, with an advance payment of Rs 60,000. However, during filming, Hemant allegedly forced her to wear revealing clothes and perform obscene scenes.
The actress accused the producer of harassment, claiming that he was inviting her to come to a private hotel. After the movie shoot was over, he told her to come alone under the pretext of cinema promotion.
Hemant also reportedly posted uncensored and edited clips from the film on social media without the actress’s consent and shared her personal details, defaming her publicly. Despite a court order restraining him from uploading videos, he continued to post defamatory content.
When she refused to do his bidding, he threatened to post uncensored photos from the movie on social media. He also threatened to kill the actress and her mother, the complaint states.
