Revised voter list of 3 B’luru Assembly constituencies to be out on January 15

BENGALURU: State Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Meena on Thursday said the revised voters’ list for Chickpet, Shivajinagar and Mahadevapura Assembly Constituencies will be published on January 15. Apart from this, the voter list for the other 221 constituencies in the state will also be published, he said.

Briefing reporters, he said they have received 18,32,000 applications for revision of voter list. There are 5,05,48,553 registered voters in the state of whom 2,54,49,725 are male voters, 2,50,94,326 are women voters and 4,502 Others, Meena said.

While 12,31,540 have been added,6,18,965 voter names have been deleted. As per the 2011 Census, seven lakh young voters have registered. Among the 221 Assembly constituencies, Bengaluru South has the highest number of voters at 6,50,532 while Sringeri constituency in Chikkamagalur district has the least at 1,66,521 voters, he said.

Referring to the gender ratio of voters, he said that for every 1,000 male voters, there are 988 women voters, an increase of five points over the last election.

The CEO there will be 57,388 polling booths in the 221 Assembly constituencies. The voter list will be uploaded in PDF format on the Election Commission website where voters can check their details. Except for three Assembly constituencies in Bengaluru, voters can apply for correction and there will be time till March 31 to link the voter ID with the Aadhaar number, he added.
