BENGALURU: In a case of drunken driving, a car driver knocked down a person who was on the footpath, killing him on the spot, on Kodigehalli Main Road near Airport Road. The car also hit some parked two-wheelers.
The deceased has been identified as Ravi Shankar (59), a retired soldier. The car hit the Ravi Shankar, Raghavendra, an employee at a local hotel, while four other pedestrians standing on the footpath were injured. The driver was identified as Poovaiah.
Ravi Shankar died on the spot, while the others sustained injuries. The body of the retired soldier was sent to MS Ramaiah Hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered at Hebbal traffic police station.
