Residents anxious about leopard presence, Forest dept says it’s wild cat

BIDAR: Residents of of some localities in the city were anxious about the presence of a leopard in New Adarsh Colony and other residential areas on Friday night. However, it later turned out to be a wild cat.

After the animal was caught on some CCTV cameras roaming around in residential areas, there was some concern among residents about the presence of a leopard. Videos of the animal moving around also quicky went viral on social media.

However, the Forest Department has clarified that the animal spotted on CCTV cameras is not a leopard. Deputy Range Forest Officer M M Vanati told Public TV that the animal was in fact a wild cat and that residents need not have apprehensions.
