Renowned Kannada film director, actor Guruprasad found dead at home, suicide suspected

BENGALURU: Popular Kannada film director and actor Guruprasad (52) was found hanging at his apartment in Vadeyarahalli in Bengaluru on Sunday.

His birthday was on November 2. He is believed to have committed suicide three-four days ago. The body was found in Flat 27, Tata Apartment, within the jurisdiction of Madanayakanahalli police station.

Residents in the area informed the police after noticing a foul smell coming from his apartment. Police rushed to the spot and are investigating the cause of death.

He is known for creative direction and portraying social evils through films. Guruprasad began his career in films with the 2006 movie ‘Matha’. He went on to direct films like ‘Eddelu Manjunatha’, ‘Director’s Special’, and ‘Eradane Sala’.

He was also a familiar face on television, having participated in various reality shows, including Bigg Boss. Guruprasad was known for his controversial statements and had been facing personal and professional struggles.

His death has sent shockwaves through the Kannada film industry. Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his death. The cause for Guruprasad taking the extreme step is yet to be ascertained.
