Bengaluru received heavy rain on Sunday evening.

BENGALURU: For citizens reeling under the sweltering heat, the recent rains have brought much-needed relief. However, in the peak of campaigning for the May 10 Assembly election, it has come as a dampener. The Met Department has predicted rain for three more days.

On Monday night, several parts of the city including KR Market, Town Hall, Mantri Mall, Okalipuram, Rajajinagar, Hebbal experienced heavy rain. In Hongasandra, water entered several houses while some underpasses in the city were flooded, affecting traffic.

Due to a trough in the Bay of Bengal, south-interior Karnataka will receive rain for the next three days and may be heavy on Tuesday and Wednesday. An alert has also been sounded for some parts of the state. The rain will be accompanied by thunder and lightning, the Met Department has said.

While citizens, who had been experiencing intense heat over the last one-and-half months are relieved, politicians organising rallies and roadshows are clenching their fingers with just a few days remaining for campaigning.
