Recruitment exam scam kingpin RD Patil finally arrested from Maharashtra border

RD Patil was arrested from the Maharashtra border near Afzalpur.

KALABURAGI: The kingpin in the recruitment examination scam, R D Patil, who had been evading the police for the last 12 days, was arrested from Maharashtra near the Azfalpur border, on Friday.

A team, led by ACP Bhootegouda had been camping in Maharashtra for the last two day in the hunt for R D Patil. He is believed to have been hiding in a relative’s house.

R D Patil’s flat owner, manager and associate were also arrested.

Earlier, the police arrested the owner of the flat which Patil had taken on rent and the apartment manager Dilip Pawar. Shankaragouda Patil had rented out the flat at Mahalakshmi Apartment in Vardha Layout after taking an advance of Rs 10,000. Patil had escaped from the apartment after he came to know that the police were coming there to look for him.

The police also arrested Patil’s associate Shivakumar, who is a contractor, from Nelogi village in Jewargi taluk. Shivakumar was arrested after the police found out that the two were in touch.
