Rameshwaram cafe blast: Looking from all angles, says Deputy CM DK Shivakumar

BENGALURU: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Friday said that the Rameshwaram cafe blast is being investigated from all angles, adding that 7-8 teams have been formed to probe the incident.

Shivakumar also stated that, according to the top sources said that the accused came in a bus, a youth came, he must be around 35 years old, bought idli and kept a small bag, which exploded after an hour. A timer was also fixed to the device, so the bomb exploded one hour after he left the bag in the hotel,  DCM added.

The accused observed every moments in the hotel, before leaving the bag. A separate team has been formed, about 7 to 8 special teams have been formed.

He said that all the activities of the man were caught on CCTV, and he will be caught soon.

DK Shivakumar, said the CCB police have already started gathering information about the accused who carried out the bomb. It is almost known who the accused is.

The Rameshwaram Cafe Whitefield where the twin blasts occurred on Friday afternoon.

The police are free to conduct any type of investigation. We are confident that they will take this up within hours.

Dy CM DK Shivakumar, who has given a response in this regard, has received information about the incident. A special team of 8 police officers has been formed to conduct a comprehensive investigation. The Forensic Science Laboratory Team, Bomb Disposal Squad are conducting the investigation. The police said that they would arrest the accused soon.

DK Shivakumar, reacting to BJP leaders allegations over the Congress government and asking for his resignation, said, Let them do whatever the allegations are. ” We are looking at the image of Karnataka. Even in 2020, everybody knows what happened in Shivamogga, and in 2022 in Mangaluru. I do not want to blame anyone. Who was in power at that time. We will not let you leave. The police are conducting an investigation into all dimensions.

If BJP leaders wanted to do politics, let them do it, and we will save lives, he added.

He has also aked the people of Bengaluru not to worry.

“It was a low-intensity blast. A youth came and kept a small bag, which exploded after an hour. About 10 people received injuries. 7-8 teams formed to probe the incident. We are looking from all angles. I ask every Bangalorean not to worry,” he said.

As many as 10 people have been injured in Bengaluru’s Rameshwaram Cafe blast.

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Tejasvi Surya on Friday said that Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah must give free hand to agencies to investigate the Rameshwaram cafe blast incident, adding that the State government is repeatedly changing its narrative on the matter.
Tejasvi Surya, who represents Bengaluru South constituency in Lok Sabha, questioned the Chief Minister’s Siddaramaiah’s government intentions over the incident.

“At first, they tried the narrative of cylinder blast. Now, they are trying the narrative of business rivalry. Why can’t the Congress Govt allow the investigation agencies to do their job? Why preempt? Why prompt? Vote Bank compulsions? CM Siddaramaiah must give free hand to investigate and give clear answers to people of Bengaluru,” Tejasvi Surya posted on X.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and State Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara, along with DGP Alok Mohan, also visited the Bengaluru explosion site for inspection.

A team from the National Investigation Agency also visited the explosion site in the Whitefield area.

 A security guard working at the Rameshwaram Cafe who was present at the time of the incident said, “I was standing outside the cafe. Many customers had come to the hotel. Suddenly there was a loud sound and a fire broke out, causing injuries to the customers inside the hotel.”
The Rameshwaram Cafe is one of the popular hangouts and is usually extremely crowded during lunch hours. Further details are awaited. (ANI)
