BENGALURU: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Saturday lashed out at the Congress’ Bharat Jodo Yatra and public rally at Ballari saying that the party has many questions to answer.

Speaking to reporters, Bommai said incumbent Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi had earlier contested the Lok Sabha election from Ballari and had promised to never leave the seat if she won. But she switched to Rae Bareli and did not even show her gratitude to Ballari voters. “A Rs 3,000 crore package was announced for Ballari, but not even a single rupee was released. Now, with what face are they holding a rally in Ballari?” he asked.

Questioning what ‘Bharat Jodo’ meant and why the Congress was holding the yatra, Bommai said, “The country is united, then what is the Congress trying to unite? India is now in a better position on the world stage and the economy is growing. The yatra has no meaning”, he remarked.

Taking a dig at the Congress, the CM said the party tried to launch the Rahul Gandhi missile, but it failed. Now the party is making another attempt to launch Rahul Gandhi by organising the padayatra, he noted.
