KALABURAGI: A rabid dog attacked at least 13 people, injuring them seriously at Ainapur and Benakapalli villages of Chincholi taluk of the district on Saturday. The injured were hospitalized and undergoing treatment.

On Saturday evening, a rabid dog attacked several people. As it was raining in the evening, people were returning home early from the fields. At this time, a woman went to a house to take shelter from the rain when suddenly, the dog attacked her.

Then, the same rabid dog entered the neighbouring Ainapura village and attacked 12 people, including women and men. The dog bit them in the hands and legs. The injured have been admitted to the Gulbarga Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) in Kalaburgi for treatment.

An ambulance was brought from Chitaguppa Hospital in neighbouring Bidar district as the one in the taluk did not arrive in time to take the victims to the hospital.

The villagers have expressed outrage over the rabid dog menace, claiming that no action was taken by the authorities concerned despite informing them. They have also demanded that the injured be given appropriate compensation.
