PWD engineer caught with Rs 10.5 lakh cash at Vidhana Soudha west gate

BENGALURU: The Vidhana Soudha police have seized Rs 10.5 lakh in cash from a PWD junior engineer which he was carrying unauthorisedly on the Vidhana Soudha premises on Wednesday evening.

The junior engineer, identified as Jagadish, was stopped at the west gate of Vidhana Soudha and the huge cash was found during checks. But he did not have convincing replies on the source of the cash or why he was carrying it. Following this, the police seized the cash.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (central) Srinivas Gowda told reporters on Thursday, “During regular frisking, about Rs 10.5 lakh was found in a bag of the government employee. When questioned, he said he had to go the Mandya and that he was a junior engineer. He claimed to have come to Vidhana Soudha as he had some work. The cash was handed over to the Vidhana Soudha police station and later deposited in court. We have registered a case and asked him to produce relevant documents. We are conducting further inquiries.”
