Pushpa 2: B’luru DC writes to police chief to take action against 42 threatres not following show timings

BENGALURU: ‘Pushpa 2’ was released at thousands of theaters across the country on Thursday. The Bengaluru Urban deputy commissioner issued notice to the ‘Pushpa 2’ cinema team and warned of taking serious action against theaters showing the movie illegally and for not following the scheduled show timings.

The deputy commissioner has written to the police commissioner and directed him taking action against 42 theaters in Bengaluru. The DC also wrote to the police to cancel shows between midnight and before 6.30 am on December 5.

Film shows were available on BookMyShow in Bengaluru cinemas and multiplex theaters which were not as per scheduled timings. Under the Karnataka Cinema Regulation Act, the film screening should start after 6.30 am, but some theaters were planning to screen the movie at 3 am on November 5 unofficially.

According to the notice, it is illegal to sell tickets for movie screenings before 6.30 am through BookMyShow online portal. Therefore, such issues should be considered seriously, and necessary steps should be taken, the letter said.

According to Rule 41 of the Karnataka Cinema Regulation Act, no licensee shall exhibit cinematograph shows before 6.30 am and the last show should not commence after 10-30 pm . Therefore, it was been found that tickets are being sold in 42 theaters on BookMyShow in violation of the timings.
