BENGALURU: The two-day mega education and job fair ‘Vidhya Mandira’, presented by Public TV in association with AD6 Advertising, got off to a grand start on Saturday at Gayatri Vihar, Palace Grounds.
Actress Priyanka Upendra inaugurated the fair by cutting the ribbon while Public TV chairman H R Ranganath, Reva University Chancellor Dr P Shyama Raju and Cambridge Group of Institutions chairman D K Mohan were among the dignitaries present.
After the inauguration, the dignitaries visited each of the stalls. More than 40 educational institutions are participating in the educational fair. During this, H R Ranganath visited the Reva University stall and got information from Chancellor P Shyama Raju.
A large number of students and parents thronged the Vidhya Mandira event. Students are visiting the education and job fair to pursue their dream courses and shape their future. They visited the stalls and gathered necessary information about post-graduate courses after their completing their degree course.
Those who have completed UG and PG and are looking for jobs are also coming to Public TV’s Vidhya Peetha fair. Hundreds of candidates have come to the fair to look for jobs matching their educational qualifications.
In his inaugural address, Dr P Shyamaraju, Chancellor of Reva University said, “We were talking about unemployment and I have experienced it too. About 50 years ago the unemployment problem is huge. This is a good platform as opportunities in various fields will be available here”.
“Artificial intelligence skills have increased and work that was done by 20 people is now being done by one AI. We need to learn how to get jobs through AI and Vidhya Peetha is a good platform for that”, he said. “No one misses Ranganath’s 8-10 PM news bulleting. People at the stalls told me they don’t sleep without watching his programme”, he added.
D K Mohan, chairman, Cambridge Group of Institutions, said, “Since post-graduataion is important, we are also conducting a PG fair. Students have a lot of confusion about PG. To go to a good position, PG is important. Out of those who do UG, only 12 per cent of students do PG”.
“We are at a very low level when it comes to PhD. Creating awareness among students about why PG or PhD is important is necessary. If you do PG, there are many opportunities. In this competitive world, those with PG will get good opportunities. They will get higher-level opportunities. Congratulations to Public TV for this excellent programme”.
Actress Priyanka Upendra said, “I congratulate Public TV. Thank you for inviting me to such a good programme. I studied in America and Singapore. During my study time, there were no opportunities like this. First, education matters, later, talent counts. Focus on your career, but college days are the best in life. Ranganath Sir is a big inspiration to us and I have learned Kannada. This is a great programme. In this time of AI, opportunities are available. Take good care of your mental health”.
Public TV chairman H R Ranganath, said, “We should have interest in the work we do. Without interest, we will see failure. Postgraduate degree is for perfectly developing your skills. Higher education is necessary to build your life.Earlier, parents felt proud just saying their son has done his degree, but now it’s post-graduation. In the coming days, even that might go. You should study when it’s time to study”.
“Kids hate college life while they are in college, you realize it only after leaving college. I had the same experience. Doing PG will help in honing skills and building a life. AI can give jobs… and can take them away. There are many jobs, but no people. Even though people come, they show no interest. I was on a foreign trip recently and at every place, they had put up boards saying ‘Jobs available’. Even though there are jobs, there are no skills”.
“AI can take away jobs, and it will take some time to see how it will take away jobs”, he said. He shared his experience about an incident regarding his old keypad phone during his foreign trip where the staff at a phone showroom took a photo holding his old phone.
