HASSAN: A PUC I student luckily survived after he slipped from a moving train and fell about 70-80 feet into the Hemavathi river when it was crossing a bridge, on Wednesday night. He managed to survive as the water level in the river was less.
Muzammil (17), a studnet of HKS International School in Hassan, was travelling from KR Nagar by an express train. He was dangling one of his legs out of the bogie when he lost balance and fell into the river below.
Since the flow of water in the river was less, Muzammil managed to cling on to a rock in the river and shouted for help. Some locals nearby, who heard his screams, got into the river, rescued him and later handed him over to the police.
Muzammil was given first aid a the taluk hospital and later got admitted to a private hospital. The Holenarsipur town police visited the spot.
