Protests against Agnipath scheme: Security tightened at all railway stations in Karnataka

BENGALURU: In the light of the violent protests in some states against the Union government’s Agnipath scheme for entry into the armed forces, Karnataka has heightened security in all railway station within the state.

Additional police forces have been deployed and security arrangements have been tightened at all major railway stations including, Bengaluru, Hubballi, Dharwad, Bagalkot and other places. The police also staged a route march in some places.

Meanwhile, there were protests in some parts of the state. Groups of youths staged protest in Khanapur, Gokak, Nippani and Chikkodi. In Dharwad, police had to resort to mild lathicharge to disperse protesters.
